The 68 clubs across Europe’s five biggest women’s leagues hold a combined squad value of £145.16m. The ten most valuable players in those leagues are listed below.

Klara Bühl of Bayern Munich is the most valuable player in women’s football at £1.41m. Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona is second at £1.37m.
Barcelona have five players in the top ten, more than any other club. Arsenal have two. No other club has more than one.
Eight of the ten are forwards or attacking midfielders. Ages range from 22 for Melchie Dumornay to 32 for Alexia Putellas.

The Women’s Super League holds £52.44m in squad value across 14 clubs. That is 36.1% of the combined value of all five leagues, and more than any other division.

The widest gap of the five leagues
Arsenal’s squad is worth 85.2 times more than Charlton Athletic’s. That is the widest internal gap of any of the five leagues covered here.
The WSL also has the most depth at the top. Five of the ten most valuable squads in Europe are English: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and London City Lionesses. No other league has more than two.
That depth shows in the player data as well. Of the 50 most valuable players across all five leagues, 24 play in the WSL. The next highest are Liga F and the Première Ligue with 10 each.
Frauen-Bundesliga
Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga holds £31.40m across 14 clubs, second only to the WSL.

Value without the same inequality
Bayern Munich’s squad is worth 13.4 times more than Mainz’s. That is the second narrowest gap of the five leagues, behind only Serie A.
The Frauen-Bundesliga is the only league to combine a high total value with a relatively even spread. It ranks second of five on total value but fourth of five on internal inequality.
It also has the youngest average squad age of the five leagues at 24.2. The WSL sits at 25.6.
Bayern hold all three of the league’s most valuable players. Klara Bühl at £1.41m is the most valuable player in any of the five leagues, and worth more than double the next German-based player.
Liga F
Spain’s Liga F holds £26.93m across 16 clubs, the largest number of teams of the five leagues.

Barcelona hold a third of the league
Barcelona’s squad is valued at £9.02m. The whole of Liga F comes to £26.93m, so Barcelona account for 33.5% of it on their own.
They also hold five of the ten most valuable players in European women’s football: Aitana Bonmatí, Patri Guijarro, Clàudia Pina, Ewa Pajor and Caroline Graham Hansen.
Below the top two the drop is steep. Real Madrid are second at £6.22m and Atlético de Madrid third at £2.91m, less than a third of Barcelona’s total.
Première Ligue
France’s Première Ligue holds £20.83m across 12 clubs.

Lyon account for nearly half the league
OL Lyonnes are valued at £9.68m, which is 46.5% of the entire Première Ligue. No club in any of the other four leagues holds a larger share of its division.
They also have nine players in the 50 most valuable in Europe, more than any other club, including Barcelona and Arsenal.
Paris Saint-Germain are second at £4.69m, less than half Lyon’s total. RC Lens at £124k also have the youngest squad in the five leagues at an average age of 22.0.
Serie A Femminile
Italy’s Serie A Femminile holds £13.57m across 12 clubs, the smallest total of the five leagues.

The most level league of the five
Juventus have the highest squad value in Serie A at £2.63m. Ternana have the lowest at £440k. The gap between them is 6.0 times, the narrowest of the five leagues by a clear margin.
The trade-off is at the top. Juventus rank 17th across all 68 clubs, and no Serie A player appears in the 50 most valuable in Europe. Alba Redondo at £410k is the highest-valued player in the league, worth 29% of Klara Bühl’s value in Germany.
Serie A also has the oldest squad in the five leagues. Como 1907 average 30.0, against a five-league average of 25.0.

The Women’s Super League is the most valuable of the five and holds more than a third of the combined total. It is worth almost four times Serie A.
There is no relationship between how valuable a league is and how evenly that value is spread. The WSL is the richest and the least equal. Serie A is the smallest and the most equal. The Frauen-Bundesliga is the exception, holding the second largest total while remaining relatively level.
Conclusion
Three points stand out from the data.
First, the Women’s Super League leads on both total value and depth. It holds 36.1% of the combined value of the five leagues, five of the ten most valuable squads, and 24 of the 50 most valuable players.
Second, single clubs dominate their leagues to a marked degree. OL Lyonnes hold 46.5% of the Première Ligue, and Barcelona hold 33.5% of Liga F. Only the Frauen-Bundesliga and Serie A avoid that concentration.
Third, the values remain small in absolute terms. The most valuable player in women’s football is worth £1.41m. All 68 clubs combined come to £145.16m.
